Take Your Daughter to Work

Posted on July 21, 2005

Our sitter is in Michigan this week visiting family. Sean and I agreed to work together to cover watching Briar. She came to work with me for most of Monday, ending the day at Sean’s office. The next day I brought her into work, only to be sent back home – not that I am complaining! It was incredible. They should really institute one day a month when you go and just spend a day with your child. That’s what the weekend is for, you say. But no, that isn’t true. About a week ago our sitter noted that Briar had a yeast infection, which was followed 3 days later by intense vomiting, which in turn was followed by a low grade fever which graduated to a true fever, 102.7. Sean had asked that we meet him at his office between 4:45 and 5 o’clock. We were going to go out to dinner with his business partner and his wife, have a bite to eat and discuss financial stuff. So I picked Briar up and went home to let the dogs out and water our hanging plants. It has been mercilessly hot and muggy all week so I had the air conditioning blasting. Briar was fine when I picked her up, but once we got home…

Bad Grapes

Posted on July 13, 2005

I intend to write more about our trip, but I have to jot this down. Briar and I were downstairs this morning after getting a fresh diaper and outfit on – for you wise asses the diaper was on Briar, we both had fresh outfits. I was having a cup of coffee and nibbling on grapes. Briar was watching me so I peeled a grape for her and bit off 1/3 to give to her. She put it in her mouth, made a little face and then proceeded to chew. After a few seconds she coughed a bit, I was going over to make sure she was ok, it didn’t look like she was choking or anything, when all of a sudden – Hu-chuck.…
