Cool Breezes & Warm Tickles

Posted on June 28, 2006

Curses. I chose the wrong layout, so no captions on the pics. Grr. Actually, they usually speak better for themselves. Avery hates the heat. This week the heat has been compounded by merciless humidity. Yesterday we spent most of the day testing different ways to soothe Avery. Her 2 favorite ways were walking with Grandpa and resting on Grandma’s chest. Briar has been enjoying being the “big gull.” She showed her indifference to the heat as she sprinted around the house and incited tickle fights.

Grandma & Grandpa (Ugh) Come to Town

Posted on June 27, 2006

Saturday night Grandma and Grandpa Mott came to town. We had been trying to prep Briar with pictures of her with them from our trip west last July. She is infinitely kissable, endlessly watchable and absolutely magical to be around. Each day–minute, really, she is more responsive and communicative. Notice in the sort of pathetic ‘mom took it herself with her arm stretched way out’ shot, she is darn near kissing me back. I thin you’ll also see that Briar is still very photogenic. I think it is going…

It’s early Saturday night. Sean is burping Avery, Briar is upstairs asleep and we are planning to head up to bed by nine to just read until we pass out. It’s been an exhausting few weeks. Avery is such a sweet little baby. She has really slipped into life here as seamlessly as can be. She rolled with the punches as Briar worked it out and has really just blended in. She sleeps through the night more often than not, though on the three nights that she hasn’t slept through, she has done so (or not done so as the case may be) with great gusto. Last night was one of the three sleepless nights. Seems to be an issue of gas and discomfort.…
