Growing up on the West Coast we said, “Don’t cut,” when we were talking about someone moving ahead in line before their turn.

I’ve learned that on the East Coast people say, “Don’t budge.”

Either way, grown ups really ought to know how to wait their turn and to respect time.

Alas, like the teenagers who dumped the entire container of candy from our front porch into their bag in the 15 minutes we were gone despite the plaintive, “Please take 2 pieces” sign, some adults feel that budging or cutting is appropriate behavior.
