I found this too late. I wonder, even now understanding the truth in the quote, if it is really something that I could ever live.
Perhaps, I’ll get used to the regret for having believed in people more than they deserved.

Man, I get burnt a LOT, even though the ole instincts are good….I just like to give people the opportunity to be their best and not everybody gives two shits about that.

Sarah, I can’t wait until the celebratory, live-is-amazing week twinship we’ll have.
Or perhaps “trust but verify”. But at least we can control who we trust. I find it harder to take when it turns out that people should not have trusted me.
I got blind-sided about six years ago now. Still hurts after all this time, and has caused me to have huge issues with trust. I can not picture you walking around with distrust in your heart – doesn’t fit the person I know.
It’s all just a huge crapshoot in the long run, and it doesn’t hurt to be a little careful before you open up.
Friend to friend, I was raised in this environment. It’s taken my entire life to learn to trust. And there is no black white better not better way to be.
The disappointments keep disappointing, and the pain hurts as much the 500th time as it did the first.
But it’s a nice feeling — to have trust come up first, rather than never.

I think this is a rich rich subject. I think trust in the ultimate goodness of those I love even when they hurt me is what I do.
